After spending the winter tying flies in anticipation of the new season, I couldn’t wait to visit the Coxs River in the Blue Mountains to try and tempt a few trout.
I started fishing with a dry dropper rig but the trout just weren’t looking up so I switched to fishing nymphs under an indicator and managed to net half a dozen trout. Both pheasant tail and hare’s ear nymphs worked for me in sizes 14 and 16.
